Northern Koyukon, Gwich'in and Lower Tanana 1800-1901
The history of the Northern Koyukon Western Gwich'in and Lower Tanana was kept by storytellers for over a 150 years. Although fragments of information came here and there, the whole story of the nineteenth century movement of these communities in northern and northwestern Alaska did not surface until now. This is a fascinating account of their history taken from written records of the early explorers, traders, and missionaries and the oral tradition of the Alaska Native peoples themselves.
