The 2022–2023 academic year was the second full year that our collective included eleven institutional members across fourteen campuses supporting four distinct imprints, the University Press of Colorado, the University of Alaska Press, Utah State University Press, and the University of Wyoming Press. While three of these imprints were established between 1965 and 1975, the University of Wyoming Press imprint is a new brand and publishing venture officially launched in 2021 with the support of the University of Wyoming and a generous SHARP (Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan) grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
During this academic year, we released the first University of Wyoming Press title, The Art and Life of Merritt Dana Houghton in the Northern Rockies, 1878–1919 by Michael A. Amundson. This is just the first of many more University of Wyoming Press titles to come. Overall we published, copublished, or distributed a total of 105 titles in 2022–2023, a number bolstered by a new partnership with the Society for American Archaeology to distribute their SAA Press titles. In addition, 15 of our books across three of our imprints won awards.
I remain deeply grateful for the hard work and flexibility of our amazing staff, authors, and trustees; the continued support of our member institutions; the onetime support received from numerous institutions and organizations that underwrote specific publications; the many generous donors that contributed to our endowment fund; and the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities for the University of Wyoming Press. Thank you all for your part in the contributions to knowledge reflected below.
