2021–2022 Annual Report

The University Press of Colorado added two new members during the 2021–2022 academic year, the University of Denver and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The latter institution's membership came with an established publishing program, the University of Alaska Press, that now complements and extends the lists of the University Press of Colorado, Utah State University Press, and the University of Wyoming Press. The addition of these new members and a new imprint really set the tone for the year, one that was marked by growth.

In order to support this expansion, we nearly doubled our staff with the addition of Nate Bauer, Tina Kachele, Allegra Martschenko, Robert Ramaswamy, Laura Walker, and Chiquita Taborn. Biographical sketches can be found on our staff page. Robert Ramaswamy's newly established position as editor for the University of Wyoming Press is supported, in part, by a generous SHARP (Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan) grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

We published, co-published, or distributed a total of 68 titles in 2021–2022, and 14 of our books—representing all of our established imprints—won awards. Some titles thus honored, like The Greater Chaco Landscape edited by Ruth M. Van Dyke and Carrie C. Heitman, collected more than one award.

I remain deeply grateful for the hard work and flexibility of our amazing staff, authors, and trustees; the continued support of our member institutions; the one-time support received from numerous institutions and organizations that underwrote specific publications; the many generous donors that contributed to our endowment fund; and the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities for the University of Wyoming Press. Thank you all for your part in the contributions to knowledge reflected below.

—Darrin Pratt, Director
