Moyo Okediji is professor of African visual cultures at the University of Texas, Austin. After receiving his PhD in African and African American art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he taught at several universities in the United States and was curator of African and Oceanic arts at the Denver Art Museum for a decade. His books include The Shattered Gourd: Yoruba Forms in Twentieth Century American Art, and Western Frontiers of African Art. He is also a studio artist and has exhibited in Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
