This exquisitely illustrated and extensive map charts the peoples and languages of Alaska natives. The author, who founded the Alaska Native Language Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and directed it until 2000, was responsible for assembling the archive of Alaska Native language documentation and has for more than two decades worked to bring the world’s attention to the enormity of the language endangerment crisis.
