On March 21st, 2018, the University of Colorado published, and emailed to the CU student body, a statement by James W.C. White, interim dean at the College of Arts and Sciences, acknowledging Lucile Berkeley Buchanan as the first female Black graduate, and reflecting on the University's actions around her graduation in 1918.
Lucile Berkeley Buchanan is the subject of the upcoming UPC title Remembering Lucile, by CU professor Polly Bugros McLean, who who spent a decade researching Buchanan’s long-overlooked life.
